CLOSING THE CHAPTER ON MARRIAGE....

"And if apart you two must be, better by far, u should walk away with a smile than to stay with tears in your eyes"-Her Prettyness

There comes a point where walking away is the best choice, not the easiest, not the calmest, just the best....

A divorce is not meant to be easy, it is meant to remind u for the last time why you chose to get married in the first place. It is meant to be painful and traumatising.... But if leaving means, leaving the abuse, the cheating, the lies...., if leaving means, you and God can agree that you deserve better, then maybe, you should leave.

However, leaving doesn't necessary mean closing the door behind you, sometimes, it is just walking to the front yard, sitting in the garden whilst staring back into your room and remembering why you settled for that in the first place....

Divorce is hard on anyone involved, so is marriage.None should be taken lightly......

But if you really must divorce, try again to make it work, you never know when you'd still find a spark of love in what seems to be dead flames....

DO NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED......

Disclaimer: my opinion may be far from the truth or even reality but it is my opinion.

MARRIAGE..... This word has been running through my mind pretty much all week. Not because I'be met any special someone or because I'm dreaming about my own marriage but because i'm alarmed, nah, traumatised about the current rate of divorce.

The good book has a lot to say about marriage. But the only advice I choose to pick, is the one which admonished us not to be unequally yoked.

In other words, do not settle for less than you deserve. As humans, its easy for us to settle. Just to get too comfortable and stop trying. But as I was told, marriage is a challenge....

I'm not married but I think when I do, I'd put all of my strength in making it last. I think it is going to be one of the few ventures in life I'm going to put 100 percent of myself in.

I'm not going to say we won't have bad days or that we won't fight or that he won't annoy me. But im saying, somehow, someway, quitting won't be an option.

I have my ideas about marriage and I know reality will be far different but I think I will adjust. Half of marital problems, starts at the choosing stage that is why I say, DARE NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED!

If you love dogs, don't settle for a dog hater...... If u don't want fleas, don't sleep with dogs..

Marriage is meant to be enjoyed not endured

THE MARRIAGE POEM
A commitment to commitment
Will ensure your marriage lasts
And though you will see your differences,
With work, in time, they will pass

Pledge to respect and trust the other
Give love and support when down
Communicate your feelings
It will help your union to be bound.

You are going to start a new life;
Make sure God is in your plan
You'll need him to stay on course.
To never turn and run

Let your marriage vows be part of you.
Be not selfish, proud or vain.
So when conflict rears its ugly head,
Married you'd both choose to remain

So pause, take stock and check your love guage
To be sure it is set on high,
So that best friends you will always be
And love will keep you together till you die......Her Prettyness

My thoughts on the Ghanaian marriage

Last saturday, my big sister had her dream wedding..... The weather was beautiful, the grass was green, her dress was spotless white and she walked arms in arms withe her gorgeous hubby....
My heart skips a beat with excitement when I remember how perfect my sister's wedding was....Even for someone who swears to hate weddings I had to admit it was gorgeous
My mind goes back to her traditional marriage a few months ago and I keep asking, why do Ghanaians have to marry the same person twice???

First, there's the dramatic, expensive, but totally necessary traditional marriage which is supposed to bring the two families together, then there's an even more expensive white wedding which is.............. I dunno what it does
My dad says he doesn't see why he has to give off the same daughter twice and frankly, I agree with him....Can't we just find a way of incorporating both events into one???
I'm not going to undermine the importance of any of the events but all I'm saying is, since the couples will need money for the journey they are embarkin on, they'd need all the money they can save. Culture and christianity will have to find a way of coming together to save the couple some financial stress
Oh and I was a bridesmaid...... Loved it but that's just by the way.lol xoxo
